Talking Point

  • Having looked at Corporates & FIG the last two days, today we look at € IG SSA issuance for the 2025 period from now through to the end of the year (weeks 42 to 51).
  • Volumes were concentrated into short, lumpy windows. Only 5 weeks (42-46) were active during the period, producing €47.92bn across 23 deals, with week 43 alone (31 Oct) contributing €17.37bn (36%) from just 3 deals.
  • Sovereigns dominated; while ESG was a footnote. Sovereign paper took 59.2% of volume vs. 24% were Supranational & 16.8% Agencies. ESG related issuance totalled just 8.5% of volume, with Social/SDG outpacing Green/EuGB, & zero Sustainable or SLB supply.
  • Duration skewed firmly to 7-10yr issuance, capturing 51.3% of volume, with no supply below 3yrs.
  • Issuance ground to a halt in the last week of November
  • Implication for end-2026: unmet 2025 needs likely rolled into a heavy January supply surge. French sovereign credit remains a risk to watch given the negative outlook shift & political instability.
